Trained in aural tuning by long-time Piano Technician Larry Merriman of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Piano Technician Philip Balke has expanded his skill-set beyond the foundation of tuning to include complete action regulation, voicing, repair, and more. Highly versed in the mechanics of the piano, Philip brings this time-honed craft and knowledge to each and every instrument he works on.
Philip served as an in-shop technician/tuner at Chupp’s Piano Service, Inc., one of the leading piano restoration firms in the United States.
While working as a full-time employee at Chupp’s Pianos, he gained valuable hands-on experience in the restoration and adjustment of some of the world’s finest pianos, including an almost countless number of vintage Steinway & Sons instruments.
A skilled pianist, he understands the touch and tone requirements musicians expect out of their chosen instrument. A resident of Goshen, Indiana, he is married to his wife Abby, he is the father of three children.
